What is a CORS Network?
A Continuously Operating Reference Station (CORS) network is a system of permanently installed GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) receivers that continuously collect and transmit positioning data. These stations provide highly accurate, real-time positioning information for various applications including:
- Land surveying and mapping
- Geodetic control and reference
- Construction and engineering
- Agriculture and precision farming
- Scientific research and monitoring
- Disaster management and response
The Ghana CORS network is operated by the Lands Commission and serves as the foundation for the country's geospatial infrastructure, enabling precise positioning for government, commercial, and research purposes.

What is CORS
A Continuously Operating Reference Station (CORS) is a permanently installed GNSS receiver that continuously tracks satellite signals and provides precise positioning data. These stations serve as fixed reference points that enable centimeter-level accuracy for positioning applications.
How CORS Works
CORS continuously collect GNSS data and transmit it to a central processing center. This data is used to calculate corrections that improve the accuracy of mobile GNSS receivers in the field, enabling high-precision positioning for surveying, construction, and navigation.
Ghana's CORS Network
The Ghana CORS network is managed by the Lands Commission and consists of strategically placed reference stations across the country. The network supports:
- Land administration and management
- Surveying and mapping operations
- Infrastructure development and monitoring
- Geospatial research and education
- Environmental monitoring and disaster response
Benefits of the CORS Network
High Precision
Achieve centimeter-level accuracy for surveying, construction, and mapping applications.
24/7 Availability
Stations operate continuously, providing reliable positioning data around the clock.
National Coverage
Strategically positioned stations provide coverage across all regions of Ghana.
Economic Impact
Supports infrastructure development, resource management, and economic growth.
